SharonA Poem by Danielle Ashermy sister, not by blood, but sister nonetheless: We finally found one another several years after my father's death and have been rebuilding our relationship slowly but surely.Reunite Finding Peace with all we know We laugh together about what kind of father he was to us How funny his long pause was and his hesitated good bye Your spirit makes me feel bright Makes me feel lighter There is nobody else that has the same effect I do not think they would like to know that
I feel that you really knew him Similar to how I really knew him More than they could ever know him You saw his fun side You saw him ride a bike You saw him ride a horse It reminds me of when I watched him come down the block on a tractor to pick me up at the bus stop My eyes had not seen such joy Better than any man on a white stallion could ever deliver For you, He carried your baggage Your burden And you felt safe In the end neither of us gained a Father But we found one another again And the Giants won the Superbowl He got what he wanted © 2008 Danielle AsherAuthor's Note
