New York Sunday Birthday Review (part 2)

A Poem by Danielle Asher
"

these were my thoughts while I sat in a coffee house window on the upper east side waiting for my brother one day. It was a few years ago on my birthday weekend. It's not my typical style of writing but i thought cute, thought maybe a little cheesy. But w

(Thoughts on Lex and 78th)

Sitting in a window being all that I am

Watching people pass

Caffeine high and false class

Enjoying the sights the sounds the fear

Of New Yorker’s this time of year

Take it in

Make it yours

Watch the faces

Hold open doors

Truth be told

Nobody knows

Could you be mine?

Or is she yours?

Most are cute

Probably gay

But at least it is a beautiful day

I could live here maybe not

It would be worth the shot

Fast pace life I find ease

Peace and truth being alone in company

My brother and I love it so

But soon the train calls us to go

We share our hearts our minds our souls

These city streets are not mine to own

However one and ore the same, it’s been real

All truth, no shame
