my rant: inspired by hearing someone say We are the Change We have Been Waiting For.

This is just me ranting. Not really a poem at all. I am just so frustrating today for some reason and I figured I would share it. Thanks for reading.

 

Petrified of tomorrow

Facing the darkness

it begins

truly, it begins

 

does anybody listen?

 

I heard a man say just tonight “We are the Change We have been waiting for.”

Not a new line though delivered very well. It inspired me to go on a rant.

 

 

If we are the change we have been waiting for, get up and let’s do it!

 

Stop going to rallies just to feel good about yourself and telling everyone you did it.

 

Or watching them on youtube and saying you have participated in the movement.

 

We need something big. We are dying.

 

Slowly killing ourseleves.

 

Others are getting tortured

 

In my home state of NY we voted for Clinton and McCain to win the Primary.

 

What does that say about us?

 

We are not a state of rebellion and the next thing coming…

 

We are a state of comfort, the fear, segregation.

 

We are racist at heart. We are sexist at heart. We are homophobic at heart.

 

We are AFRAID.

 

What would it mean to stand up and say STOP KILLING PEOPLE?

 

STOP TORTURING PEOPLE?

 

Give us a Fair and equitable Education system so that all brothers and sisters have equal opportunity to succeed.

 

Why are we suffering with our Health care?

 

Why are we letting our own environment be destroyed at our own hand?

 

Why is okay by us to live in Segregation and the only conversations that take place about race are among the people who are okay to talk about it?

 

I am tired of being OKAY!!

 

Big issues that affect the world, personal issues that effect individuals…

 

what can we talk about?

 

I was raped. NOBODY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT IT.

 

Nobody could talk about it when my father died.

 

What the hell is wrong with people?

 

What is everybody afraid of?

 

I am tired of people telling me not to be angry. Don’t be angry. There is nothing you can do about it! Well I am disappointed with humankind. People need to step up.

 

If we are the change we have been waiting for…

 

We need to be that change. Make CHANGE!!!

 

We don’t need to be afraid.

 

But why are we inspired if we are not going to do anything with the inspiration except read a good book or watch a good show?

This is great!!
You say a lot here. People don't want to work anymore. They want to be entertained. We like good speeches, especially when they turn the volume down on their sound system so they can yell with authority. I like McCain. His stories seem realistic, nothing too radical.
