I just want to pretend I didn't hear a thing, While he stands high, acting like a king. His authority, as if his words are fact, While I stay still, hurt and smacked. My cheek strings from where he hit, I close my eyes while he threw a fit. I don't reply and I stay quiet, The tension in the air is like a riot. Like a mob starting a fire, All yelling in unison like a choir. God, if you are there at all, Help me, stop me feeling so small! Holding back my tears, I try to speak, But prospects of getting through to him look bleak. I cant bare it, I run from him, Hands to ears, crying and grim. He's shouting after me as I shut the door, Calling me a b***h and a f*****g w***e. Call me what you will as I don't care, At least I'm safe from your horrible, burning flare.
