The dawn king

The dawn king

A Poem by Savior knowmore

In the darkness of the deepest forest

Lives a creature of absolute power

Reigning over all other beings

Its flesh clad in hard, aged armor

Reaching up to the moon, its claws touch the stars

Its hundreds of arms have a thousand fingers each

Watching over its kingdom since time forgotten

No being more respected

Or more feared, than the Dawn King.

Sitting upon his earthen throne

His one hundred legs burrow into the soil

His toes grasping the pillars of the world

This poem grows stronger as it reads on--the ending being the strongest. The beginning is a bit too familiar for me, a bit too cliche? I can hear that dramatic deep man's voice narrating some epic movie trailer. If that was what you were going for, then good job, otherwise I'd consider either cutting the first half or re-working it, only because the lower half deserves a better beginning.
