Alex, Chapter VA Chapter by Savior knowmoreChapter V Planet Bae, Hidden Galaxy
"Blake!" Mage shouted loudly. I remembered the picture and that Blake definitely didn’t have golden eyes or was this creepy.
The golden eyes continued to move towards us, silent and not activating the motion sensors. The golden eyes stopped just outside of the red light, completely hiding anything other than the eyes.
"Blake, what are you doing here? If they find you, you’re dead!" I thought Mage was delirious. There was no possible way this was Blake and she was greatly exaggerating. They’d only kick him out, at most, because he was special.
The eyes were silent and I was positive they didn’t belong to a psychic. They just stare at us for around three minutes before leaving, slowly moving backwards, eyes locked on us.
Mage tried to push the cart forward, but I held it still. "Mage that is not Blake. I saw a picture of Blake, and he didn’t have gold colored eyes."
Mage was silent, her head down. "Mage, come on, say something?" I put my hand on her shoulder and she roughly pushed me to the ground with surprising strength. She looked down the hallway then finally to me.
I let out a scream. Mage’s eyes were a bright, liquid gold. She turned away from me and grabbed the cart and began to chase after the golden eyes that still watched us from down the hallway.
I quickly chased after her, determined not to get left behind in the dark. I only just managed to stay with Mage, who was greatly slowed by the weight of the cart. If she had left it, she’d have already caught up to the golden eyes.
I had been so intent on following them; I didn’t realize where we were going. It suddenly hit me.
The golden eyes were leading us somewhere, in particular, our rooms. I heard a door swing open and saw the eyes disappear into a room, followed by the cart and Mage. I headed in after them to find the room was completely dark. I could make out the cart with Mage still clinging to it. But the golden eyes were nowhere to be found.
I heard the door close behind me and twirled around. The golden eyes were an inch from my face. I still saw them, even as my eyelids closed as I fainted.
I opened my eyes to complete darkness. I heard a shuffling sound and a voice.
"I’m going to turn on the light. Are you sure you can handle it? Alright, I’ll do it then," I heard Mage’s voice say.
The white light flared and nearly blinded me. I blinked until I could see. Mage was standing in front of a blanket hung from the ceiling. Her eyes were back to normal, but I could see a faint, ultra-thin ring of gold around the irises. "Alex, I need to show you something."
"Where’s that thing with the golden eyes?" I demanded.
Ignoring me, Mage said, "This is Blake!"
She tore at the blanket and it fell to the ground to reveal a monster.
It had no legs, moving along a snake-like body. It was fleshy and black. Two short arms protruded from it, each ending in five humanoid fingers, each much longer and thinner than a normal human’s. The head on it was smooth as glass, the only thing on them were two golden eyes. The golden eyes. It was long, tail wrapping around and around itself so that the upper body emerged from a mass of coils, looming forward.
I backed away from it and gestured for Mage to run from the beast. But Mage stood where she was with the creature looming above and over her to look at me.
Then the monster did the most terrifying thing it could have done at that time. There was a sound of wet flesh being torn apart as the head moved. A jagged gash slowly appeared as he skin formed, as the monster created itself a mouth.
"I am Blake Durim. Do not be afraid," it said, its voice the sound of bubbling mud. "I am a native of the planet Bae."
I remembered something Greavus had said once. "The native beings of the Hidden Galaxy are the single most feared creatures in existence. Scourge himself refused to even go near that galaxy out of fear for its natives."
The monster loomed. It shifted and stretched over Mage, coming closer to me. "I have the feeling that what you see scares you. Think! Have you ever heard a detailed description of a native to my galaxy?"
The monster had a point. The most detail anybody used was "scary". But what was it getting at? I could see it!
It continued, "Our home is called the Hidden Galaxy for a reason. We appear as you expect us to look." It lunged forward and grabbed the picture of the real Blake Durim. "This is what I look like. I look like a normal, human teen!"
"Believe him, Alex, please?" I heard Mage say. Mage may have been acting strange, but she still was my friend. If she told me to believe, I would trust the monster.
In the time it took to blink, the monster vanished and was replaced by a tall, slightly tan, red haired, black eyed boy. He could have been anywhere between 15 and 19, remarkably clear skinned and clean shaven. He wore a red shirt and shorts. It was the Blake Durim, the one from the picture.
"Nice to meet you. I take it you see me now, right? Good, now that that is out of the way, can we turn the lights off? My skin burns," He said, his voice silky and rich. © 2012 Savior knowmore |
