Chapter 2A Chapter by Savior knowmoreI looked around the room. Brooke had somehow woken up before me. Considering I woke up before the sun, it was amazing. She had showered and dressed before I woke up. She had on a purple hoody and pale blue jeans. She wore some kind of make-up that smoothed out her skin tone. She was actually kinda cute, for someone who couldn't have been awake more than an hour. "Come on, I'll give you a tour of the house." She led me out into the room I had been in before. Leading me down the long hallway, she confirmed my thoughts. "This way leads to the kitchen, and through that will take you into the living room." The kitchen was a big place, more like a kitchen you'd expect in a restaurant than a home. Sinks and ovens lined one side. Another was all cutting boards. The third used place seemed to have been used recently, but its purpose I didn't know. A small washroom was on the left hand side of the kitchen. We continued on through a set of heavy wooden doors. It led immediately into the living room. Large windows covered the back wall. A fireplace sat against the right wall. Large couches were lined up against the walls. Chairs were arranged by the fireplace. A few scattered tables occupied spaces near the bigger furniture. "As you see, big, warm and homey. Come on, I'll show you upstairs," Brooke said. "What's through there?" I asked, pointing to two doors that blended in with the walls on the same wall as the kitchen doors. "We don't use that space. Amaya told all of us not to go through those doors. Of course, we all tried. It's locked. Come on," Brooke grabbed my arm and pulled me back to the staircase. Once there, we climbed up, and moved quickly and silently. It was like a hallway at a school dorm; bedrooms lined both sides, all the way down. There were six rooms, with five girls living up here. One of them must've been used, because I was supposed to stay on the third floor. Past the dark wooden doors, all the way at the end of the hall, was another square staircase. We climbed this silently. Once we reached the landing, my jaw fell. It was an attic. Sure, it wasn't dusty or anything, but beams were showing holding the roof up. Thin floorboards were covered by even thinner carpet. This place was more appropriate for holding prisoners. It was perfect for me. Trapped, on the third floor, in a house of women. I didn't think it would get much worse. Then I saw the bed. It was a woven mat, on the floor. A mat! Sure, it was an improvement from my usual accommodations, but it just went to show how bad these girls were in it. "Home, sweet home. Right, Ryu?" © 2011 Savior knowmore |
