Then I Will Paint MariaA Poem by VinterprinsessaFeminist poem. In a way. Written while being lost in the Frankfurt art museum. (Yeah, I have a terrible sense of direction. Wasn't allowed to wander freely any more during that school trip.)
Then I will paint Maria
And hang the painting high Upon the wall, above all those Who doubted her - She'll fly And when the cavalry comes knocking Or rather " banging " to take it down Though they have gasped " Astonished, at it But, me and Maria? We're running from town Laughing " knowing that they search us But alas " we're already flown. Then I will paint Maria Show the World what it's already seen In her glory they will suffer, yet bask Being treated " as we always have been Is she my muse? Or am I hers? What questions people ask! I say, I will paint Maria " always For no one else will try © 2010 VinterprinsessaAuthor's Note
