Lost Within Myself

Lost Within Myself

A Poem by Eva

When did I become this way,
how did I not notice the subtle changes?

Once, so sure of who I am...
now, so far gone
I don't know where to start.

I got so used to the routine,
doing what needs to be done;
but, where did I go
and who am I now?

thanks for writing this, its very good, i could relate to this exactly. I believe all people change in their lives, its subtle it happens gradullly or suddenly. If we didnt change we would stagnate. Life is an experience we travel through it not watch it, so we are apt to change eventually, i have changed so many times over the years and now im almost back to what I was but not if you get it, we change we grow we go back we go forwards, its inevitable. Life process. i hope you are ok and find yourself soon or yourself will find you either way good luck xx like your poem though

I love this, it applies to all of us growing older. I’m especially reminded of those who are brave enuf to be parents (which I’m not) . . . it seems they forget their own identity, being so immersed in their children’s developments, etc. Then one day they wake up, the children are gone, & then it’s time to figure out who & what they are all about anymore. This is a beautiful little poem to convey these sentiments (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Hi, Eva! ; )
It's Richard come a'calling and warmly welcoming you to the Café.
I hope you will like it here and stay with us, make many new friends and gather even more fans.
There are some great poets onsite to share with and learn from, whom I know will be thrilled to with you … me, for one.
What a deeply meaning, retrospective poem of questions I feel sure many of us relate to … I know I do.
Sometimes, life changes us so gradually we may not notice until someone or something makes us aware of it, and it may not always be a change for the better, but in these ways we learn to recognize and either accept or vow to change our direction. I can see in you great potential to become a wonderful person, even more wonderful than you (obviously) already are, but stay on your toes and be mindful of those things that will influence you to go one way or another, and I know you will, because the very questions you ask show how aware you are and what you need to start doing … a very insightful poem, Eva, that inspire great respect and admiration.
Though, easy to understand, well-worded, and filled to the brim with emotive and compassionate allure, and keen awareness, this is a fine piece that would present more appealing to a broader audience if it were poetically formatted.
One of the main reasons poetesses, poets, and writers take membership here is not only to share, but to learn and better their craft and skills, and in this spirit, let me offer a caring suggestion to you in a message.
Meanwhile, I am certainly very impressed with how you express yourself, showing true and realistic openness from your heart, mind, and emotion … the hallmarks of a masterful poetess to be.
This, my first review for you, is a bit longwinded, but I promise future ones will not be, so don't worry … LOL!

Thank you ever-so warmly and gratefully for sharing You … I very much enjoy your first poem, and again, "Welcome!" ⁓ Richard : )

You make it such a joy. : )
From where we start to future destination is a mysterious journey of self discovery - and - I believe you have captured the essence of this theme nicely with your write. If I could be so bold; could I suggest a revamp that would both enhance and bring greater imagery to your nice piece: thus

When did I become this way
How did I not notice
The subtle changes

Once so sure of whom I was
Now so far gone
I don't know where to start

I got so used to the routine
Doing what needs to be done
Where did I go and who am I now

Hope my persective of your lovely work is acceptable! Bless - :-)
