So Beautiful When She Wears Death

So Beautiful When She Wears Death

A Poem by Vin

Gagging over the toilet, with her finger at the back of her throat,

muscles start to weaken as she lets her eyes begin to flow.

She glances in the mirror after staggering backwards in the wrong direction,

as she picks up a bottle of Vodka and breaks it against her reflection.

Tears steadily trace her cheeks as she watches her own image shatter,

all that's left of her slowly crumbles, but at this point she knows it doesn't matter.

She knows she could possibly get it but she doesn't want any help,

wondering how God let this happen but she only blames herself.

Looking back on life and all the scars she's constantly wearing,

mistakes that she let go on and all of the lies that she keeps on living.

Everyone always believes the lie when she tells them she's just sick,

no one ever realises that she's secretly letting her body quit.

Her sleeve rolled half way up, with a razor in the opposite hand,

another slip of denial and she can barely stand.

Losing her balance completely she stumbles to the floor,

rests the blade upon her wrist, she can't take it anymore.

One cut so deep, so refreshing and divine,

it's been such a long time since she's drawn such a perfect line.

So much comfort fills her again even though the blood is so decieving,

hush, hush, she tells herself, wouldn't dare to wake them with her screaming.

Thinking back to the starting point, not understanding how it got this far,

her stomach is so hollow and her blood is so dark.

Confusion comes to swallow her, not knowing right from wrong,

as she tells her body to give up, she knew she would lose it all.

Too numb to even fel herself, laying her head down on broken glass,

happiness fades to dull memories and they were never meant to last.

Feeling secure in her own pool of blood, she thinks it's time to let go,

she knows that if she lives she refuses to continue doing it alone.

Breathing in with the sickness as she lets herself brutally bleed,

she knows all of this is happening because she let her mental image take the lead.

Such a powerful poem.
I loved the rhyme, it never seemed forced to me.
I got such a mental image of this girl, and her sad dilemma.
Your words laced together a beautiful story of a girl suffering from an ED.
[Which I know a bit too much about...]
Wonderful work.

I like the way the form of poem mirrors the subject which mirrors the mirror in the content. Nice.
