Cast on the Sunny Side, Away

Cast on the Sunny Side, Away

A Poem by V. P. Trujillo

Fantasy's can twist. Don't mind me.

Cast on the Sunny Side, Away

Shadows are cast on the sunny side of my tomorrow

I want far away, from here

I want to be grounded in my conviction, not ill feeling

But my body can’t move, not as I once could

I am passing away to stillness

Inaction taking me by my heartstrings, and playing games

Shadows of past, cast on the sunny side

I am far away, and yet I just want to face you down

Look that b***h in the eye,

She can’t play with me no more

Cause’ I got a purpose beyond her

Fear has no authority, but in slips those shadows

Cast on the sunny side

I am useless, unable, and in my sobriety I can see it clearly,

More than ever; I am frustrated

I want far away, far away from here

I believed the realm of thought was my strength

Maybe I fancy living a lie

All I’m good with is what I’m weak in,

And I can no longer ‘do’, and have never really ‘done’

Take me away

Take me away with you

I want away

If only to be with you

I am a joke, but I do not laugh

I am sincere, with no follow-through

I am at stake, and I’m losing here

I want away,

Far away with you,

Don’t go away

No more playing at my fears

Only stay

But who am I?

To expect anything

Something good, is far away

Take me away, far away from here

Namaste, you speak on a level of consciousness that is hard to find, most people are not even half as aware of brutal truths and locked corridors within ourselves, a contemplative feast of food for thought... It takes a lot of courage to share something that speaks on this level, and I admire this sort of rare strength, I hope you can find peace with yourself, albeit poets rarely do, thank you for sharing the graceful and outstanding poetry...

This is powerful, expressive and well spoken. It seems to describe a wish to find a place and I hope you find that peaceful place. :)

heeh, of course vincent x)
well, you can definitely feel the frustration, the internal struggle, the angst, and the pain in this one.. makes you wonder at the end, who or what are you really running from.. yourself?... emotions can overrule rationality during those hard times.. sanity slipping further and further.. doubts and fear creeping in.. what is fantasy?.. what is reality?.. is this an illusion?.. has it always been?... even the strongest minds have weaknesses and a breaking point.... you expressed that well here. strong use of imagery and language to make this a powerfully moving piece.. music is a nice addition.. well done as usual..
