Miko stepped forth from the shadows of the alley making Sarah halt in her tracks.
“Step aside!” Sarah ordered angrily. Miko only smiled. Sarah drew her katana. “I won’t ask again. Move or I’ll cut you aside” Miko’s smile disappeared.
“Who do you think you are to make such threats?”
“Shut it! I know you’re here as a diversion.” Miko seemed shocked by Sarah’s words.
“Diversion? Oh, my, I’m terribly sorry but you seem to have me confused with some idea that I have not a clue of.” Miko said in a mocking voice. “You see, I’m not here as a diversion,” Miko’s smile returned. “I’m here to kill you.”
“Doesn’t your mother want my powers? She can’t possibly hope to gain them if I were dead.” Sarah hoped at least that was true.” Miko just merely blew out an exasperated breath.
“My mother’s wishes haven’t exactly been on the side of being properly thought out. But I can blame you for that. Do you have any idea how hard it is seeing your mother on the verge of insanity every f*****g day? Every sine you ran her through with that damned sword you hold. So,” A razor wire seemed to uncoil itself from behind Miko and sway as if alive. The wire struck out towards Sarah with amazing speed. Sarah deflected the weapon and rushed at Miko swinging horizontally. Miko swiftly jumped over the attack and threw the razor wire at Sarah again. Sarah barely managed to dodge out of the way as Miko landed on the ground. The wire suddenly withdrew back towards its owner. When Sarah spun around Miko revealed a scythe in her hands. Sarah recognized it instantly.
“That’s Evilyne’s!” Miko pointed the weapon towards Sarah.
“No!” Miko yelled with surprising ferocity. “My mother is as good as dead, thanks to you. She’s no longer able to wield this weapon forged by Nyx, the Queen of Death, herself. I’ll make sure to put this scythe to good use as its new owner as I collect your head.” Miko charged Sarah with such rage that Sarah found it nearly impossible to make a counter attack. Fighting Miko was very different than fighting Evilyne. Evilyne used her powers as she fought thus leaving small openings in her offense. Miko didn’t make the same mistake as she only attacked with her weapon. “What’s the matter? You felled my mother in combat so I know you can at least try and put up a goddamn fight!” Sarah jumped in the air as Miko swung downwards where she just was breaking apart the ground. Miko instantly shot forth lightning from her hand towards Sarah. Sarah was defenseless in the air as she took the burst of lightning dead on. Sarah hit the ground with a thud. She had managed to neutralize most of the lightning just before it hit but she still took damage from the fall.
“This is pathetic. You’re the one who beat my mother? No, I refuse to accept that. You’re just an imposter but it matters not. I’ll kill you and then I’ll find the real one later.” Miko raised her scythe and swung at Sarah’s neck but was abruptly stopped as Sarah caught the blade with her bare hands. “What?” Miko barely managed to gasp in surprise when the blade of her scythe shattered in Sarah’s hand sending Miko stumbling backwards. She looked at the broken shards in ghastly horror and then back at Sarah. Sarah returned Miko’s scared look with a glare from pure black eyes that made the girl flinch backward. “W-wait, I thought you were supposed to be rid of your Dark half.” Sarah replied in a voice that sounded like a distorted voice with her own. “How do you think I’m able to kill? If I had nothing but compassion for my enemy I would never be able to bring myself to slay them.” Miko stepped back in horror. This isn’t the same person she was facing moments ago. This new woman was heartless and showed no signs of having mercy on anything.
“You were the one who destroyed Mother from the inside out!” Miko’s anger rose once more and instantly didn’t care who she faced before her. “This is the one whom I’ve been waiting to face.” Miko raised her hand and shot forth another bolt of lightning. Sarah merely stepped to the side and dodged the attack easily. Enraged Miko stretched forth her hand over the ground causing sharp rocks to come out from the ground at an amazing rate of speed. Sarah jumped clear of the attack and formed her sword into an onyx black rapier with a wavy blade. Sarah charged at Miko with a series of thrust and strokes that were too fast for Miko to dodge them all. She was cut several times and then nearly ducked at a swift strike aimed at her throat. Miko went into a leg sweep that took Sarah’s legs out from under her. She hit the ground and her rapier fell from her hand. Miko quickly kicked it from Sarah’s grasp and picked her up from the neck. Miko then swung Sarah at a wall with astounding strength. Sarah broke through the wall and found herself barely managing to get up. Before she got a chance to regain her balance Miko jumped into the run and swung a blunt object into Sarah’s shoulder. The attack knocked Sarah to the floor again. Her shoulder blared with pain. “Mother’s not going to take you essence. I am. I’m going to drain you of all of your abilities and then you’re going to wish that I’ve killed you a thousand times over before I’m done with you.” Miko raised the pole she had in her hands and swung at Sarah’s head to knock her out but once again Sarah caught the pole with her hand. “Goddamn it! Why don’t you just give up? You’ve lost so accept your cursed fate.”
“No, there is no fate that can be controlled by any being in this realm.” Sarah’s voice was surprisingly calm and soothing. Suddenly her hair was white that was even brighter than snow with the sun shining down upon it. Her eyes were of the same color. “Your mother fell to the Light. She was blinded by her lust for power so I took it from her. I cured her.” Miko yanked the pole from Sarah’s grasp.
“Like, hell, you cured her! She’s no longer able to stay in her right mind anymore.” As Miko looked into Sarah’s eyes she couldn’t help but feel her anger slip away slowly.
“That’s only to be expected. Her hunger was infused with her mind so it can only be expected when I pull something from it.” Miko shook her head.
“No! I don’t care! I want you dead!” Sarah stood up and waved to fingers towards Miko and she dropped to the ground.
“I’m sorry for the pain you’ve have gone through.” Sarah bent down and picked up the unconscious girl into her arms. “When you wake the only thing you’ll remember is the words we have spoken without the battle. I wish that I could take you in but right now that’s impossible.” Sarah walked to a small town where she new Miko had come from reading her thoughts. Sarah placed the girl on a chair and left her smiling. “Be safe, Miko.” And Sarah disappeared within the busy crowd of the town.
