I wish you all see and comment on my little adventures. You can also reach me at [email protected] Usually on Sundays, I take an early morning jog. When I'm visiting places, this is really helpful in knowing the language and locales. This happened when I visited a village in Tamilnadu(India). I was supposed to have a session with 60 school students. I reached the place on Saturday evening and my session was on Sunday evening. Early morning I decided to see the place around. I got a cycle and I was glad since more area can be covered with this. I started early morning by 6. it was drizzling. By time it was 8, I got super tired and famished. By this time almost 25 km were covered and there was mud all over my dress. It was a rural village and I had no place to freshen up or eat. So I decided to seek help in an household. I stopped near a hut. An old lady, may be 70 or something was drying some chilly flakes. I smiled and said 'Namaskaram' (I can speak Tamil okay). She smiled back. "I'm hungry. Can I get some bananas." I didn't have high hopes. She told me to come in. It was a very small house built with branches and stones and it was leaking here and there. I sat in a corner. She served me Pongal and Sambar (a very famous south indian dish)in a palm leaf plate. I put little in my mouth. I felt like ecstatic! May be it's my hunger or my tired body. But I hadn't tasted anything like this. Any pongal I ate before was nowhere close to this. I finished whatever she made and she was serving happily. Her name was Rukmini and she was living alone for 17 years. We spent some time talking. When it was time to leave I bowed down and touched her feet. I didn't know why I did that! I haven't done this even to my parents. She laughed. "Thank you for the Pongal. It was the best one I had." She said " You were so hungry. That's why." "Why did you take me in and served this. I know this was your meal for the whole day. I'm a stranger and why did you do this?". I finally asked this, since it was haunting. "I'm living alone for many years. Who ever comes here is being sent by the lord or he himself. So you made my day. " She spoke as I was like listening to a heavenly voice. I slowly pedaled back with, may be one of the happiest experiences. Love! © 2020 VinAuthor's Note
