Lady Day

Lady Day

A Poem by Vile

As soon as you came in
I thought the lights would dim behind you.
Shades long to greet you, to give them glow for nothing.
You enter clothed in color--
if only the lights would fade beside you,
I know I'd not forget this room.

You enter coaxed by strangers--
now that the lights have dimmed I swear you're reaching.
I try to pull you back but the Shades they snap blindly.
I should have known,
everything is darker in the distance.

The use of the word "shades" with its double meaning is very effective here.

Shades long to greet you, to give them glow for nothing
I try to pull you back but the Shades they snap blindly. ( shades/blinds...blindly...nice!)

Oh dear Vile....How you seem to pull me in a direction in which I cannot turn from. Love your darkness cradled by that seductive light...yes, back again for another shade of grey!

Very sad and lovely lines at the same time. It sounds like you were trying to help this stranger.

Seems like a good way to say "stop living in the dark"

It's the shades of grey....i find this strangely seductive....maybe even lip biting worthy...but I'm not young or sad or apologetic anymore😉

This was a little sad, especially if you are thinking about relationships with a significant other or even a friend. This was very nicely written.

ehh,
'' everything is darker in the distance'' .
unfortunately relationship or love itself in distance are hard to keep.

very beautiful written.
