Declaration of SentimentsA Chapter by Word MutinyIn my english class we had an assigment to write an essay based on the declaration of independence and the declaration of sentiments that was said at the seneca falls conference in 1848.To: All those in positions of authority at schools From: The People When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people of the high school student body to address outside actions that impede them from assuming among the students of the school a postion to which the laws of nature and of nature's entirety entitles them, a decent respects to the values of mankind requires that they should declare the causes that impel them to such a discourse of the inequalities and injustices manifested in the allegedly respectful and equal environment of all high school classrooms. We hold these truths to be self evident: that all students reserve equal rights granted by natural law. These equal rights are apparently embodied and evident in aspects of circadian life such as the exaggerated equality preached by our democratic government, and the teachings of unjust acts going unpunished and ignored as a thing of the past, whilst tolerance and equality taught as a modern day norm: all this teaching and preaching taking place in the very classrooms in which the role of authority is subtlety but obviously malpracticed. The malpractices of authority (despite there being many) addressed in this declaration of sentiments are actions and attitudes of favoritism imposed in classrooms and on or near the school campus. Such acts of favoritism have taken many different guises. A few of the most common being manifested in the permission of the exclusive group of students to speak during tests, to use profanity in the classroom (while the oppressed are called out on this form of self expression), to constantly be disruptive and disrespectful during class, to roam the hallways and campus during class, to be premitted into the premises late without a valid excuse, and to be exceptions to general rules and guidelins that are imposed upon the whole high school student body for the supposed safety and maintenance of professionalism of the school environment. All the latter representations of the inequalities existent in schools should be, with our complete confidence in the addressee's intelligence, plenty to have inflicted a grand relialization as to what has been permitted and it's weightiness. If the contrary is true, we must proceed to discuss our chosen course of action. The history of American school life is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations on the part of authoritarian figures toward the student body, having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over the latter. Of course with the authoritarian attitudes held by those which most people of the high school student body are left to be oppressed by, it is inexecutable that students can, with every natural right existent being practiced, verbally, peacefully, and respectfully get the dilemma of unfair treatment and elitist actions, which have been hitherto accepted and tolerated in the classroom, addressed and abolished. Hence the broach of this problem being presented in scripture. So when a government institution (that is made possible by the overarching system that was first established with the ideals of inalienable rights and "equality and justice for all") is found to have individuals in positions of authority to be executioners of ridiculously obvious elitist acts, it is the right of those who suffer from it to refuse allegiance to it, and to insist upon the rational innovation of such institutions, laying its foundation on the rational interpretation of our promised inalienable rights. Failed attempts have been committed with the sole purpose of attaining the perception of the distress and animosity that these injustices have caused us. These attempts taking many forms, such as speaking up when an act of elitism is witnessed, speaking to teachers and members of staff about their elitist acts, and even attempting to question the true intentions behind such actions. But as mentioned before, these attempts have gone down without major recognition of importance or have been misinterpreted as acts of defiance and ignorant rebellion. This lack of recognition and comprehension has not gone unnoticed. Now, for the sake of the containment of, although deserving, offensive ramblings which are near approach, you are left off with this: wether the rules and guidelines and expectations are rational or not is up for discussion, but until then, we, the people, expect to be treated equally and justly for it is only the just and moral thing expected from those put in positions of authority. If change in the form of equality and abolition of elitist actions is not promised and carried out accordingly, we chall see no use in the the following of such rules and guidelines. Fow what it the use of such things when they are not enforced equally? Furthermore, this is a warning, that will not be in vain, that all hope is not lost in your part, there is a last opportunity, given now, for change. Our course of action will include (as mentioned before) the disregard for school rules and guidelines, we will also not respect or obey (or even consider doing so) any form of authority that is presented to us by the school or the government. We hope you understand that we are not a minority, and that such a course of action will be carried out with the sole purpose of abolishing any form of your authority. Silence and tolerance of such immoral actions will stand no longer. Sincerely, The People © 2015 Word Mutiny |
