Must Come Down

Must Come Down

A Poem by Victoria Mae

I've struggled
Like a seed slowly unfurling
toward the sun shining down
teasing it with warmth
and coaxing it to say
hello.

Like a tree bending in the winds
of a torrential downpour
that will keep it growing strong
yet challenge it to
make it.

Like a bird who finally took flight
only to find itself in the middle
of a hurricane that tests
it's ability to
fly.

I've struggled to be on top.

On top of my yesterdays
where I've thrown my past
to the winds of change
and made the decision to live for
tomorrow.

But like a balloon let go
from child's hands I've struggled
to float straight toward my goals
and somehow eventually
fallen.

Because in the end,
what goes up,
must come down.

Brilliant! Very nice & thought invoking poem. I just enjoyed every word of the poem since starting to an end along the depth of heart. You have expressed the feelings... the pain of the universe in your insightful words. Keep it up! ;)

Elegantly phrased. My favorite lines: "… where I've thrown my past; to the winds of change; and made the decision to live for; tomorrow."

The evolution of poem is like a dream, leading us on the surreal journeys of our realities.
