The One She LovesA Poem by Victoria MaeA love poem
He lay tucked under the covers, pulled tight against his chin.
A quiet peaceful snoring, sounding from within. The room was lightly scented, a calming floral smell. She gazed upon his sleeping face, for him her heart it fell. In truth her heart was his, since long before this day. The second that they kissed, she felt it fly away. And looking at his sleeping face, deep inside she knew. This was something meant to be, and would always be so true. He turned his head so slightly, sunlight dancing off his face. The butterflies she felt inside, barely contained within their space. Looking at him laying there, looking at the one she loved. She swore if there were angels, he was surely sent from up above. She walked ever slowly toward him, and bent to kiss his cheek. In that very moment, she knew her heart he'd keep. There was not one thing about him, she truly didn't love. His passion drew her to him, like flying drew a dove. And as she turned to leave the room, a tear came to her eye. A lifetime spent on loving him, to her that was just right. © 2014 Victoria Mae |
