Rose-Colored Glasses

Rose-Colored Glasses

A Poem by Victoria Lee~

I live, I love, and I feel.
And I cry at times,
as I get the wind knocked out of me
for choosing not to read the writing on the wall.
I guess you can't fix all the broken people,
who won't help themselves.
I tell myself I will learn from my mistakes,
as I take a deep breath,
let it go and move on
A little wiser,
But not yet jaded.
I just put on my rose-colored glasses,
that enables me to only see the good in people,
and forget the bad......
Then I dance around my living room,
hands moving through the air,
twirling round and round.
Singing out loud the lyrics
to the song running through my mind....
It is not long before it all feels good again.
I pause to think about all the wonderful people
 that are in my life.......
Then I smile as I give thanks to the man above........
As I live, as I feel, as I love..,
As I sing…. as I dance.... as I laugh....

I really enjoyed reading this. It projects wisdom from nearly every verse and a view more people should have on society. Wonderful positive piece about staying true to who you are and what you believe no matter what is happening around you. Great work.

The words are words of encouragement and good feelings. I think there's more beneath this maroon surface. But I shall simply enjoy the ride on the sea of tranquility that you've weaved.

Brilliant...talk about words of wisdom! Dear, you've got it all right. I often do the same. I choose to see the good side of people...it does get me into trouble sometimes, but so be it! There is nothing like dancing to your own beat and smiling. I truly loved this :)

Victoria, you have brought tears to these eyes, my new friend. So much hope lies beneath the wisdom of your verse. The concept of helping oneself is such a powerful and realistic message. You have saved the lives, I am certain, of many of your readers as we 'sing.....and dance.....and know it is all going to be ok.'

hmmm... maybe I should get some rose colored glasses. The negativity of people (and of this world) sometimes does leave me jaded. I really appreciate your honesty and the the way that you write. Yours was one of the first profiles that seemd real enough to convince me to stay on this sight (and inspired me to make my own bio)

If someone thinks about or looks at something with rose-coloured glasses, they think it is more pleasant than it really is! Everyone wears them occasionally, unfortunately some people never take theirs off. This attitude of cheerful optimism, of seeing everything in an attractive, pleasant light, has always been with us. The first appearance of the expression itself goes back to at least 1857, when it was recorded in 'Tom Brown's School Days' a novel by Thomas Hughes.

I prefer you more cheerful and creative interpretation of the expression, giving thanks to a caring, loving and benevolent higher being!

Lovely, enjoyable readable composition!

Rose colored glasses planted firmly on the tip of your nose is not a bad thing, my friend. Your attitude is wonderful....and this poem so uplifting. It moved gracefully across the page and left me feeling happy. Lydia
