Rose-Colored Glasses

Rose-Colored Glasses

A Poem by Victoria Lee~

I live, I love, and I feel.
And I cry at times,
as I get the wind knocked out of me
for choosing not to read the writing on the wall.
I guess you can't fix all the broken people,
who won't help themselves.
I tell myself I will learn from my mistakes,
as I take a deep breath,
let it go and move on
A little wiser,
But not yet jaded.
I just put on my rose-colored glasses,
that enables me to only see the good in people,
and forget the bad......
Then I dance around my living room,
hands moving through the air,
twirling round and round.
Singing out loud the lyrics
to the song running through my mind....
It is not long before it all feels good again.
I pause to think about all the wonderful people
 that are in my life.......
Then I smile as I give thanks to the man above........
As I live, as I feel, as I love..,
As I sing…. as I dance.... as I laugh....

I really enjoyed reading this. It projects wisdom from nearly every verse and a view more people should have on society. Wonderful positive piece about staying true to who you are and what you believe no matter what is happening around you. Great work.

This poem dances with the spirt of a joyful soul unleashed like sunshine in the rain. Not sure how to say that a poem has energy, a vibe, movement but this poem has all those things. It feels strong without a heavy hand, tender without judgment. Excellent work!

This is beautiful, Victoria. Has a light hearted feel to it. So much truth in your writing... How right you are when you say that we can't fix broken people if they aren't willing to help themselves. Wanting help is half the battle. Even counseling will not help without them wanting it. Knowing how to let things go and move on is essential.

I love how you spoke of seeing the good in others and focusing on that rather than the bad. It makes all of the difference. After all, every one of us have good to offer our world.

And yet, what a blessing it is to find that ONE or TWO that do want help and ask. Being given an opportunity to give them guidance, encouragement and love along the way is so rewarding. Makes living worthwhile to see their faces light up from a kind or encouraging word when they may have never experienced encouragement, or to see a life changed because you cared enough to make an effort to help.

I enjoyed this piece. It speaks to the heart. :-)

This is beautiful, it was calming as if I found peace while reading it. Thank you. Though I've read it before it is worth reading over and over.

Quiet an interesting exhale in here my dear One! There are many layers
of self-absorbed wisdom within these lines letting me guess the you have
been through a lot. Positive thinking is the way to get trough life but
we need to make sure that we are not blind ~smiles~ on a more technical note
I would love to read this verse with less punctuations and ~I~ !
I would try to achieve a more structured form as well by shortening your stanzas
giving the viewer a more balanced read. I hope my suggestions will not
offend you ~hugs~ It was a great read and I enjoyed my stay at your poem very much
