Set to the wind

Set to the wind

A Poem by Victoria Lee~

The wind is blowing softly tonight
waving a white flag
After the brutal battle of words
Stories left untold
From those that wish to be forgiven
Words that should not have been said
On both sides of the battle
Apologies unheard
Broken arrows
Offered in peace
Thrown back in defiance
Let the silence heal this war
Sorry
Says it all
It takes a strong man
To say these words
And a stronger man
to accept them
A broken arrow
A sign of peace
Two sides to every story
Who needs to take a side
when the arrow is broken?
You cannot win a war
that has been set to the wind
The white flag waving
in hopes of peace
Let it go
And you too shall
Have peace
Set it to the wind
and let it go

I am also impressed. Lay the sword down. When a man lays it down , when he feels still under attack, it is a true sign he wants peace. I understand your words, they go beyond pride, and ego , they question character and dignity. You lose both in battles like you speak. I bow to your wisdom. Love Rain..

Very good write. Your poem evokes peaceful images of white flags and gentle breezes. I also agree that it takes someone strong to say 'sorry' and mean it.

I like that quote, it speaks to me.

As to your poem, "what did you call me?" "Don't you throw that, it ws an anniversery gift!"

Is it liek this for some? I think it is and that is too bad.
Thank you for sharing

Dave.

I loved the imagery and the sadness underlying this... it is true there is no way to win a war....the broken arrow was a great symbol in this poem... great write.
