Before you go out

Before you go out

A Poem by Victor Gardel

'F to you -dear light- my mind be a makeup
should you use it to seduce the scenery
don't give all that you are to it
and leave something of us for me.

'F I find myself a-word-in-semantics
will you tell me what cannot be told?
If you do I promise cosmetics
to you in hereafter.

And thereafter find thyself in a verse.
And wherebefore I knew all?
But be gone now, I must rehearse,
for tomorrow is what we deem important.

Sorry to close my eyes unto your love
but you always find a thoughtful way in
and I'm out now so what shall we do now?
Should we be what we have been?

Stars go their way and those silly mourners
eyes all wet of my name go starry way too
hoping that one day in a timeless heaven
they will again find me in you.

Oh, what heaven they are, I still am living
and should I see you in their dreams
put on your makeup for there is no meaning
and stay when they wake up for silly screams.
