Did You Notice This?

Did You Notice This?

A Poem by Victor D. Lopez
"

Observations in haiku form

"
Did you notice this?
The louder the man / woman,
The smaller their brain?

The more some folks speak,
The less sense they seem to make,
In rational ears?

Equity now means,
Entitlement to success,
No effort required.

We raise snowflakes now,
Then decry the fact they melt,
In the light of day.

Diversity's great,
Of ideas and world views,
Beyond race or creed.

Equity requires,
Rewards based on knowledge/skills,
Not on who one is.

Inclusion requires,
Hearing diverse points of view,
Not just ones we like.

Demonize someone,
You make them your enemy,
Quite predictably.

Hear their views, share yours,
With respect and open mind,
Wisdom you'll achieve.

When can't reconcile,
Your views to reach compromise,
Shake hands and part friends.

If all of your friends,
Look, think, vote, and pray like you,
You'll learn nothing new.

There's comfort in that,
Some say ignorance is bliss,
Is that what you want?
