Why I love Science FictionA Poem by Victor D. LopezLinked haikus
I am an author,
Mostly of non-fiction works, They are where I live. I also write poems, About themes deeply rooted, In my heart and soul. Yet of all I write, I'm arguably most free, In my SF worlds. Past, present, future, Coexist in harmony, Unchained from what is. False utopias, Unmasked as dystopias, Clung to by blind fools. Imagination, Freed from mind-forged manacles, Can discover truth. Physics' laws repealed, Coloring outside the box, Of what's possible. Brightest human minds, Amoebas imposing rules, From their fetid ponds. Are humans just germs, Praying to a god, On whose skin they live? Scientists say no, Science fiction says maybe, Which bids deeper thought? If you would like to hear my reading of the first pages from each of the SF short stories in my Mindscapes collection, you can do so here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgw9UgtPKQ4. Please note that unlike the professionally produced audiobook version of my book of short fiction, the link is to a simple book trailer with the text and my own reading of the introductory pages to each of the short stories in that book (my second or three short story collections). © 2024 Victor D.
