Heaven's Pull Grows Strong

Heaven's Pull Grows Strong

A Poem by Victor D. Lopez

"
We are chained to earth,
By our hopes, dreams, appetites,
And loved ones still here.

But the bonds weaken,
As we experience loss,
Of those we most love.

Eventually,
Heaven wins the tug of war,
As grief seeks release.

And spirit flies free,
Its chains snapped by heaven's pull,
Towards those we love.

Thus we fallen rise,
If our lives made us worthy,
By the Grace of God.

Lonely, lost no more,
Open arms awaiting us,
To welcome us home.

As we advance in years, we lose more people we love. Those losses have a huge effect on the heart. I am fortunate,I still have my marvelous husband and grandchildren living with me. Without them, I am sure that pull towards ‘home’ would be more powerful. I miss my parents, my brother and four grandparents and friends who passed young, very much. However I am still very much with the living. For those who have lost their dearest, the loneliness must be unbearable. This is a most poignant write Victor and a reminder to be kind to the lonely.
