Tale of Two Cities

Tale of Two Cities

A Poem by Victorandrew

Land of the Captive, Home of the Weak,

One nation above God,

Of the people, by the people, for the otiose robot

With following previously an honor,

Jaded and compromised to one click

Oh, that one click!

Her beautiful temple eradicated with just one click

With dream catchers hung upon her bed,

Scratched into her skin,

Hoping one day the petals of her lotus flower would be gently restored

While, He, skips through the trampled fields,

Heart became a stone

He had really loved the first,

Pouring out every ounce of love to gain vanity,

Now, melodies help him escape the anguish,

It seems

One man’s dream

Didn't echo far enough

Freedoms ring has become a

Drone.

Preacher, make time for Him?

The still silent, invisible hymn,

Love?

No, that existed scores ago.

Haven’t you heard?

Angels sing aloud ancient Babylonian runes

Portraying flashes of Heaven’s light.

While etching Y.O.L.O to the canvas of man’s heart.

Internally bleeding

Fulfilling every infinite moment which floats along,

Resulting in aromas of bliss, covered with the veil of ignorance,

Late night “I love yous” turn into brief morning “Thank yous”

So we shout don’t judge me into the street as it roars its way to the Judicial Branch

Accountability Disregarded,

With rings that fall off

As easy as they were slipped on

Eugenics exercises performed on Corners

Ripping away life

Building our own Kingdoms

Praying to the altar of ourselves

Hoping that pain will evolve with time,

Jerusalem? No.

                                        This city doesn't rest.

Now, let’s ascend past the city of Unrest

Where Heaven and earth collide

Pearls Glisten off the gates

The Light at the Center

The shouts of love vibrate forth

With every tear wiped away

Gifts are bestowed

With crowns tossed to the burnished gold street,

Streams of life forevermore

As I look,

I try to spring through,

There He stands,

Love consumes His Eyes,

He walks towards me,

Wraps his arms around and we begin to walk,

Beginning

To flash images of my counterfeit life,

So I decide to break the eerie silence,

“Can I come in?”

He looks down as tears escape down his face.

No...

But why?!

I went to church, I prayed,

I gave to the poor, I was good!

Yet tenderly he walks me away and says,

You never gave me your heart,

I never really knew you.
