![]() The Best I Can - PrologueA Story by Carla Vicknair![]() Prologue I May use for a story. Or keep as is, not sure.![]() Prologue: - C. Vicknair I’m not really sure what people wait for in life, but I believe the derivative behind all our motives is that of which we call love. Either someone doesn’t love us the way we need or want them to, or we don’t love ourselves enough. We wish we loved our bodies, we wish we embraced our thoughts. We wish that life loved us in return if we do happen to find love out there. The problem is we spend so much time wanting this love, we unknowingly create an idealistic definition of love, rather than a realistic one. I am guilty as charged of this crime as well. We scrape up what we think are all our needs and say “Here, love me.” to another and when they try to love you the way that they know how, it fails because it’s different from what you’ve imagined. He or she doesn’t say what you suspect you need to hear, so that must mean they don’t love you, or that you’ll never be loved in return. Right? Wrong. He loves you because you are existing. She loves you because you will happily exist with and for her. YOU DON’T NEED THOSE SWEET NOTHINGS YOU DREAM ABOUT. There is a reason they are called sweet ‘nothings’. Words are hollow and meaningless if you put no incentive behind them. Let him speak of nonsense that is true, before he tells you a lie. Let her cry in incoherent babbles, before she turns to stone just to pretend she’s strong for you. It doesn’t matter how, when or why. All that matters is they love you. They believe you are worth it to be blessed with their heart. So create a home there, even if you’re dwelling place isn’t lavish. Because if someone loves you, they’ll love you the best way they know how. Someone special taught me this, and so begins the journey.
