Severed AttachmentA Poem by Daring Darling DidiI recently realized that I'd lost a very dear friend to me...and this poem came to mind.
When did we drift apart?
For so long you were my sibling, my other half, my shoulder to cry on, the person who's voice I'd know anywhere Whether it was from an imitation accent Or just your loud peals of laughter. When did you become another face that flew by in the sea of people that I see every day? Except I don't see them. They're strangers to me. When did you become a stranger? I used to be your closest friend, your missing piece, your shoulder to lay down on, the person who'd always know how to make you smile Whether it was from a poke to your tickle spot Or just a much needed hug from a friend. When did I lose you to the crowd of people that merge into one person who cannot bare to match my gaze? I know this happens all the time The loss of a friend, the gaining of a new one But they could never replace you And now I'm left to wonder... Do you miss me, too? © 2012 Daring Darling DidiReviews
