I need clarity

a better perspective.

I am confused

or perhaps bemused.

A one party state

is a dictatorship.

Ok

A two party state

is half a democracy.

Maybe half a

Dictatorship.

Still can't work it out,

what is politics all

about?

I quite like a 

meritocracy.

Brains at the top

for a change.

Or a theocracy

but that conflicts with

secularism.

There seems to be a lot

of isms.

Proportional representation

sounds good.

Please tell me where

to find it.

Mark Twain once said

If voting made any 

 difference

They wouldn't let us do it.

Who are they?

I am still confused.

Thank you for your comment. I cannot think how true democracy can be achieved. It seems to be the ideal solution to the way we are governed but I fail to see how it is truly representative. The closest would be proportional representation but those who benefit from the two party state would not agree to this as there might not be an outright winner. Communism has had a flawed history and not worth considering. Dictatorships are diabolical as we have seen during the last century. What is the answer?

Thought provoking theme. I dont know politics. But I feel democracy stands in between dictatorship and capitalism. Communist ideology is there in all.

We are increasingly living in a society which is being closely monitored. Is Big Brother waiting round the corner? In the West we say that we are free and democratic. How free and how democratic are we in reality? Does the average voter truly feel represented? I for one don't.
