Cravings

Cravings

A Poem by Vestigial Appendage
"

A short poem I wrote.

"

What demons have I here?

The sacrificial alter beckons,

Bleeds and whines for mommy’s milk.

Can they sate the internal feast?

Young and full of vibrant life,

They touch and taste the salt on numbed beauties.

What demons have I here?

Shredding organs by penetration,

To savor in the bounty of a disemboweled baby.

Can God answer the victim’s fatal moans?

The demons have built a fortress of corpses,

To wave their tongue ‘cross their lifeless legs.

Must they marry to void sin?

Might a priest stand by unearthed newborns,

Baptize them and turn to them, “Now rape the bride!”?

What demons have I here, inside?

I crave the dead gluttonously.

God may never hear their prayers.

They’ve long since fallen into night.

My demons, so warm inside, become me wonderfully.

We all have demons; no one's immune. The real question is not "What demons have I here inside?" but "what demons do I NOT have inside?" The answer, of course, is none. All humans are born with evil in their hearts--that's why we live in a fallen world

Wow. We all have our demons but clearly some have more hideous ones than others. Dark, creepy and highly enjoyable.

Goddamn. That was dark as s**t. In a good way. A very good way.

a strong piece
hard edged images beg the question
is there redemption?
