Unnoticed

Unnoticed

A Poem by VeronikaRKL
"

For my Uncle.

"
Pounding heartbeat
A small cry escapes him
-strength-
to stand tall
Bead of sweat form on his furrowed brow
Laughter below distracts
from his task
His back is breaking
Sweat is not what flows to the oceans at his feet
Muscles are stretching
Years passed..
-unacknowledged-
-unlived-
-unloved-
He holds the sky, so they might see
the stars that shine..
the sun rise..
He holds the sky for them to see.
Yet as they look with eyes aglow..
all they see is
-sky-

Thank you for sharing this poem. The story of your uncle and the strong use of description make the words have life and great meaning.
"He holds the sky, so they might see
the stars that shine..
the sun rise..
He holds the sky, so they might see the stars that shine.. the sun rise.."
The above lines. Perfect and wonderful. Thank you Veronika for sharing the amazing poetry.

Really love this line, "Sweat is not what flows to the oceans at his feet." It slows down the poem a bit even though it's the longest line.
