Runner

Runner

A Poem by VeronikaRKL

Never staying in one place for more than a few months
They call me a runner
Always moving forward
Cautious steps only a thought
Footsteps hasten, pounding earth
My past crumbling, crashing chaos
My future constructing, captivating

Stay and be destroyed by rubble
Run and be saved by the dream

Run from the nightmare, it's the only way..

RUN

Run, run as fast as you can. It's hopeless, dear child. I'll catch you, for I can. Dream, dream till your mind is filled. It's hopeless, dear child. For your blood will be spilled. Hope, hope will all your might. It's hopeless, dear child. You've lost this fight. (How's that for a counter?)

Dear poet, your poem has a beginning and a middle, but no ending. It leaves me wondering and worried. Is this poem based on inspiration that came to you, or a decision that came from you?

I hope you will not run. I am reminded of a song by Natalie Merchant called "Motherland". The first line begins: "Where in Hell can you go?"
It is a question I often ask myself..."Where in Hell can I go???"
