Wasteful Victory

Wasteful Victory

A Story by Vernika

The lanes that once brimmed with chatter had gone silent.
War was finally over and won, but nobody left to celebrate the victory.

I can't disagree more with this.

My family fought in the war to end Nazi aggression in Europe and Japanese imperial expansion in the Pacific.

There was no question then or now of who was right and who was wrong.

Dad came home. The uncle I never knew was killed in action. There were many people left to celebrate the victory and move on.

War doesn't decide who is right, only who is left.. Humanity faces defeat in "almost" every war.. innocents sacrificed for the selfish desires of a few people.. Yet, sometimes some things cannot be done by love.. Being Indians, we should be knowing that. . Sometimes war is the only answer to peace..
A really good, thought provoking write.. well done :)

Thank you so much for your review! But I disagree to this. War is never an answer to peace.

War is what stops peace...

Very true!
This is well written. I think that wars are never won. Those who die on a battle field always lose. Their families lose.

I know. :)
I'm afraid that's what our next world war will leave us.

Devastating realities of war. Sad but so true.
