Confrontation

Confrontation

A Poem by Verneé

Can't you see that he doesn't love you

That he'll never be the man you need

Cause all he ever does is hurt you

And fills your eyes with tears that bleed

And you know about all the others

Who has his eye when you are gone

So why keep trying for a relationship

When in the end you'll end up alone

Can't you see his heart's not in it

Even though he agrees to stay

He'll never give you a commitment

The day will come that he walks away

And don't believe it for a moment

When he says that he still cares

Because the only thing he's telling you

Are the words that you want to hear

And just because at times he holds you

And tells you that you're the only one

Eventually he'll tell that to another

When you and him are said and done

Don't you think for even a second

That things will be different in the end

Because just when you feel things are better

He'll just break your heart again

You could realize it for yourself

If you just took the time to see

That though at times he makes you happy

You're not where he wants to be

You're a stepping stone for him

A rest stop until your role's complete

And though he's the world to you

To him you are the weakest link

Why torture yourself by staying

Knowing you're on borrowed time

Why not be the one to leave

To look for the love you're meant to find

I won't pretend to not understand

What continue to keeps you by his side

I know exactly how you're feeling

For we are one and the same, you and I

One wonders if transitional roles are every really not played by everyone. We all serve for a time, then disappear. Sad, but true.

I was just reading the other day how sixty-some-odd percent of all married couples divorce now. It seems that making a commitment is no harbinger of success either! Perhaps what we can simply be with each other in the end is authentic. More than just honest, it's a recognition of the intrinsic worth of the other person, and the fact that life is temporary, and that we need to honor to that other person with the exact depth such a fact requires.

Nice verse here. Thought-provoking. Thank you.
