A Poem by Verneé

When darkness falls on heartbreak

But the tears refuse to come

You’ve spent so much time with hurting

That now you just feel numb

There’s no answers in the passing

Each day holds more regret

Empty bottles offer sad company

And still you can’t forget

There’s solace in the sorrow

Familiarity comes with pain

Because you’ve grown accustomed

To shouldering all the blame

Eyes close in acceptance

As you ride the waves of grief

Succumbing to the darkness

Life absent of reprieve
