The Beast Named Worry

The Beast Named Worry

A Poem by Verin

It starts out as a little twinge

A small thing that offsets the mood

So tiny yet with so much potential

The more it’s noticed the faster it grows

It’s a creature that feeds on doubt

It creates it’s own food

Spawning from mistakes and failures

Quickly becoming a slimy beast

The monster inside it grows spines

And has a tail that wraps around the heart

Squeezing and clawing inside

It becomes hard to breathe

Thoughts run in circles

The creature chases them

Everything spins faster

It only gets larger

The only way to stop it

Is to no longer acknowledge

Yet it’s presence is oppressive

Overwhelming, it strangles all sanity

For the beast called worry

Is a destructive all consuming

Human creation

I like the line, "It's a creature that feeds on doubt, it creates it's own food." It makes me think of an evil plant monster living inside of people.
Effective imagery, "The monster inside it grows spines."

A student of literature, you bring your anxiety to the table in bright measures. I like your style of art. It's particularily aesthetic to my ear. Please forgive me if I pay you more attention soon.
