Happy Memory

Happy Memory

A Poem by Verin
"

From when i was in love.

"

Sun has slipped past the horizon

The moon hangs brightly in the sky

White light casts shadows over the water

They appear to move with the waves

Coming in close to shore

Then quickly retreating

On the rocky coast a fire crackles

Its light makes the shadows dance

As the flames flicker and glow

Two forms lie by the fires side

In the distance a lighthouse marks the pier

For the most part the night is a silent one

Stars surround the moon and map the sky

An old tree’s branches hang over the beach

The leaves rustle as a cool breeze moves through

On the ground below a boy holds a girl

She’s got her head upon his shoulder

Their hands are folded over each other’s

Past midnight they rest together

If anyone saw it was a truly happy sight

I’ll never forget that beautiful night
