Valley TrailA Poem by VerinThe paths we take in live often converge with the paths of othersA man walks a trail It twists and turns Running through a valley With many possible directions
Only he decides his route to take Not knowing what lies ahead Only that which rests behind him
His choices are quick He can’t waste time pondering Or else the valley will consume him And he will become lost in the forest
He runs and walks along different parts Not a single piece is ever the same Only ever slowing to catch his breath
If his eyes are open while he moves He’ll see only a part of the valley But his movements will decide Just what his eyes view
Each stretch of his course has something new Be it an obstacle or a moment of beauty Sometimes others find him But they seem to leave just as quickly
Until a foolish girl appears And decides to run beside him Sometimes just ahead or behind But always there
She’ll keep pace when she has to And give him a push when he needs it She’ll remind him why he runs
And when their journey comes to an end They’ll have each other wherever they rest
