Woes of a ProphetA Poem by Verdant Cynic
You look into the sky
And see a divine fire Darkness unforetold Will soon cover the world. Your own heart is laid clear. Your hidden darkness brought to light. You see into your own void And your own tentative demise. You see this same darkness Dwelling in the hearts of man Of how their own ignorance Will bring their doom. Hearken! You cry to warn them. Yet shrouded by their own mist They mock you scornfully. Blinded by their own light They fail to see their darkness Of how their ignorance Will unravel the world. You have become a lunatic. Your vision haunted by darkness. Your calm sea becomes A raging dark ocean. The people spoke of prophecy As a wonderful divine gift Yet you now grimly realize That you must bear the burdens Of a shadow-covered future. © 2014 Verdant CynicReviews
