A dream, a lie, to another day

A dream, a lie, to another day

A Poem by Verdant Cynic

Dull reality, accursed existence.
Empty shell, grey skies.
Crushing loneliness,
bitter emptiness,
sickening sensations.
No hope.
No opportunity.

Give me a dream.
Tell me a lie.
Light my dull reality.
Let the clouds sing with colorful lights.
Tell me of a future
Where I'll meet a warm embrace
A hand to clasp
A place in the world
A wild ride
A villainous menace
A meaningful existence.

My body grows weary
The clock ticks onward
I'm less apt to believe
Cynicism creeping me
My life setting firm

So tell me this lie again
Play the convincing organs
Pop the illustrious fireworks
Tell it to me again
So I'll believe.

I kept reading this over and over! Such a sophisticated cry for interaction with human emotion and touch. Amazing! Thank you for sharing this inspiring work.

Writing is my expression. It's the sympathetic ear to my struggles of life. It's the lure in the water, seeking the connection from one who might fish it out. I seek those who can add to my words.. more..
