Serpent

Serpent

A Poem by Delvin Ashley Draper

Serpent

I look, there he is
The serpent dressed in black
Staring straight at me
I move into the shadows
But they withdraw
Is this the end,
Betrayed by a friend?

Serpent in veil,
Serpent in shroud,
Will me ignorance come to claim me?

Afeard I am not,
For I knew it was all too good
Still my heart is torn
All those things he said
Certes, all a lie!
A tithe of my sould beckons to die
