Siren

Siren

A Poem by Delvin Ashley Draper
"

The siren is one of my most favorite mythological creatures.

"
Siren

The pain is burning her heart
From this life she can't depart
Lowly Siren as her name
Nothing done to earn this fame
Not even a cliff in sight
No rock sharpened for the blight
So, she waits until the end
Another angel falls again.

They say she's a siren,
But tears stir the ocean
Her sighs are waves upon the seas.
Oh, how she wishes to die like the wind,
The siren, her heart, left broken.

Chains of sorrow, chains of life
Gods please part her of this strife
Despondence in her wait
Ignorance to keep her straight
Many abysmal days of fright
Orison for every night
Pure in spirit and in mind
As her dreams leave her behind...
