isle

isle

A Poem by Ver

all the good ones have been done in

constant search for something new

add in a twist before the end

now you have fame and glory

still you have little to fill the void inside

endless search through the deserts of time

money, power, and vanity

yet the heart just wont abide

morality demands subjective good over evil

which prevails until one changes their perspective

maybe just maybe I will discover an alternative to my story

fill the spaces In between breaths

get wrapped up in fun regardless of sanity's sake

just feed the snake with fire and smoke

hear the voices behind cry in desperation

music dances before me, so into the darkness I go

see my power that I control myself with

let go and wash ashore the island of madness

giants among giants roam free through trees of fire and stone

in the center I witness the greatest of false imagination

at the edges of my mind I have found the original sin

I love this poem. I'm catching the sense that this narrator moves from being highly structured to letting loose & letting chaos reign. My long life experience has shown me that people who are tightly wound are usually trying to avoid feeling. Your poem shows the transition from avoiding to embracing true emotional freedom, as messy as it might feel sometimes (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
