Graduation draws near

Graduation draws near

A Poem by ChinaDoll1928
"

I am just looking forward to graduation and these passed 12 years of schooling (as I look back) makes me think of running a marathon.

"
The journey began when I was young,
we ran for a 9-10 months,
then walked the rest of the year,
occasionally jogging days but staying consistent,
we would start the marathon again,
when the next year started.
For almost twelve years,
I have ran this time consuming marathon,
for twelve years of my life,
and it's finally coming to an end.
My feet are blistered,
my breathing is heavy,
I have grown tired,
as I near the finish line,
I am beside my peers, and,
we prepare to break the ribbon,
the weight of the new world,
bears down on our new adult shoulders.
With the weight of the new generation,
we barrel down the track,
we are the future scholars,
the future workers,
the future.
Bright eyed and tired,
but ready to take the world head on,
we ran for twelve years,
we ran and some fell, but,
here we are, the ones who survived,
the ones with the potential to make it to the top,
we will run more, hold our heads up high,
and prepare for the next marathon,
on the unfolding road ahead.

This is quite motivational and is relatable by many. Stanza breaks wouldn't hurt to make this poem easier for the reader to read. If you want to spice it up, you could try adding some literary devices but aside from that, nice work ChinaDoll
