A Letter to a loved one that passed

Dear Grandpa,

I found a loophole! As a casino auditor I’m one day behind which makes this the 3^rd of February, so that means you are still here.

I want to thank you for being my Grandpa. I want to thank you for all the wise advice you gave me as a kid that I’ve taken into adulthood with me. Out of everyone in the world you’ve always made me feel important and you made me feel that I was valued by you. When I was down and I thought no one liked or loved me I knew that you did.

I wish I would have called you more, I wish I would have finished school. I promise you I will finish school.

I loved it when you would tell me how I was like when I was a baby. There were no video cameras back in the day to see how I was like, however your retelling of the stories and memories made me feel like I was right there watching it on the big screen.

I wish I would have gone over there to take care of you, it would have been my pleasure. There’s so much I want to say, so many things I want you to tell me. I know it seems silly for me to say that I don’t know what I’d do without you.

We as humans take for granted even the most important people in their lives. We seem to think the people that we love and care for will be there forever.

I knew the time was coming, but Grandpa I always thought you’d be there forever. Even though I was living my life with my little family in Las Vegas, I always felt better knowing you were there. I don’t know what I’m going to do. But I know you will always be there watching over me, and that makes me feel better.

I just want to hold your hand again and hug you and have you tell me stories with you sitting in your chair. You’d tell me the neatest stories about you in the Army.

I’m not sure Grandpa, when I’ll come and see you, but promise me that you’ll be there and make sure your pens are in your pocket so I can take them apart and put them back together again.

Grandpa I love you and you’ll always be in my heart.
