Sober Infinity

Sober Infinity

A Poem by Venus Valentine

Beyond the sky,

there he is.

My infinity;

fluttering there every night,

darkness extended into a Milky Way.

Suffocate me;

with the smog that’s still left behind in your lungs,

traveling through me,

expelling from my breath with every trip around the sun.

Finally landed someplace safe.

I can stop filling up the jet fuel just so you can take me;

to the space where there’s enough ink I can see the stars.

It’s nicer that we’ve settled down and made a home.

And the darkness has settled too;

The stars are brighter than before,

because we are present in the shadow.

You’re still my infinity.

An ever unfolding Milky Way of stars containing the moon,

appearing brighter then ever.

Here in the presence;

Raw,

Exposed,

Bare,

Shadow.
