fatal aspiration

fatal aspiration

A Poem by Venus Valentine

The heaviest thing residing in my mind.

Pink matter like an elephant,

or the bones of a skyscraper on muddy foundation.

Angels anchoring my dreams to my third eye.

Hope it doesn’t give out.

Hope it can bear the weight.

Big pretty dreams,

but are they bigger than my fears?

I make a cross,

get honest with myself.

When it’s all laid out,

I realize;

my dreams,

and my fears,

are one and the same.

It’s my cross to bear.
