The Light in the DarkA Poem by Austin DykesThere may be someone in mind for this one... lol
In the dark, cold, winter forest
I wander through the trees. An aroma reaches my nostrils as it's carried by the breeze. I trudge through the dense snow following that familiar smell. Somehow reaching the source will make it all well. Light and smoke are ahead of me as I climb the steepest hill. The closer to the summit I proceed the more I'm released from the chill. I reach the top of the hill and I'm surprised at what I see. A blazing campfire in the center and an angel looking up at me. The blaze lit up her eyes like diamonds in the dark. Her whisper enters my ears and ignites my heart with a spark. As I sit by the fire my troubles are washed away. As I gaze upon her I know she's where I must stay. © 2010 Austin Dykes |
