I Like?

I like a white wall
I like an empty thought
A careful observation,
Consideration - of nothing at all

I like a stoic demeanor
Quiet, tried-and-true
I like a plain intention
On a calm evening with the door ajar

But I also like a chaotic face
A confused conglomerate of thoughts
I like the dramatic dazzle
Of an unexpected, unyielding embrace

I do a thing, and then undo
I like an uphill frenzy
I like to laugh and then to cry,
And I think that I like you?

Has an Emily Dickinson sound to it. The speaker's seemingly contradictory likes are interesting, as is the apparent uncertainty of the last line. I hope we are seeing just varied attractions and not mood swings.

It's so hard to find nothing, you have to look really hard and then stop looking. The poem echoes of Zen philosophy in a beautiful way. The final line was difficult, throughout reading the poem I became endeared to the narrator. The point on that final question mark struck right into my heart.

Some people would call this indecision, but I think it's perfectly normal to like conflicting things or to not know what you want. Of course, sometimes figuring it out is all part of the fun too. One thing is for certain, though, I like the way you express yourself in this write. Good job.
