Assertion to an AcquaintanceA Poem by VelvetPotato
If I was worth it to you,
You'd call to hear about my moody blues, You'd listen, and question, and give a care, Say things aren't so bad, actually, quite fair, Would prioritize your longest-lasting friendship, Instead, I'm on the back burner, a thought last minute, I'll tell you what - that may have worked before, For a People-Pleaser, anxious to adore, But over the years, I've grown to realize, Sometimes it's better to just say Goodbye. As maturity requests, I'll remain civil, With the occasional "Hi," but it will take a missile, To break down the Wall disappointments have built, A revelation, communication, and maybe some guilt, For me to consider taking you back, After all of the times your presence has lacked, Even though we have always remained different, The childhood adventures and laughs were worth it, I make a strong effort to accomodate, Different personalities, opinions - find a way to relate, But until pride surrenders, I'm gone, girl, Good luck with your baby, tattoos, and your world. © 2019 VelvetPotatoReviews
