A Fresh Loaf

there is nothing better than a fresh loaf
straight from the warmth of the oven
a toasty golden, fluffily risen,
rounded rectangle - soft satisfaction!

although sniffly, scratchy smelling,
that tingles and ruffles the nose,
that won't impede squishing and loving
'Til my perfect bake meows to and fro

You took me back with this !little poem to when I would run to the bakers and buy a Hovis loaf for my Grandad. So wonderful the smell, I would nibble all four corners on the way back home. Grandad would never say a word just smile. Thank you for that memory.

I love how your word painting starts out like a loaf of bread & then transforms into a warm kitty. I had to go back & read it . . . while imagining that V1 also applies to a kitty awakening from a toasty nap on a sunny ledge.
